We have compiled a list of some frequently asked questions regarding non-emergency wheelchair medical transport, but we understand that you may have additional questions or concerns.   • Can I travel in my own wheelchair or can ‘Uniquehands’ provide the wheelchair?

    Absolutely! You’re welcome to use your own manual or electric wheelchair, and we also provide comfortable wheelchairs in our vehicles for your use. If you need us to provide a wheelchair or any other accommodations, please let our dispatcher know when you make your booking

  • Do you accept insurance?

    At this time, we do not accept insurance for our non-emergency medical transportation services. However, if the transportation is deemed necessary for a medical appointment, the individual can submit a claim to their insurance company for reimbursement. We are happy to provide a medical transportation invoice that you can use to submit for reimbursement.

  • What type of payment methods do you accept?

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

     At Uniquehands, we offer various payment options to suit our client’s needs, including cash, credit cards, and personal checks. Payment is due at the time of transportation unless other arrangements have been made in advance with our Dispatcher Manager.

  • How much advance notice do I need for medical transportation or wheelchair-disabled transportation?

    We typically ask for at least 24 hours of advance notice for medical transportation including wheelchair-disabled transportation and stretcher transportation. However, we understand that situations may arise where transportation is needed urgently, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs. It is always best to contact us as soon as possible to ensure availability and to make the necessary arrangements. For faster communication always text us at 571-518-0273 (TEXT ONLY).

  • What are your hours of operation?

     UNIQUEHANDS offers 24/7 prescheduled medical transportation services, including holidays. Our professional and courteous customer representatives are available at all times to assist you with your transportation needs. Our drivers and vehicles are always ready to serve you whenever you need us. Please note that our office hours are from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm, seven days a week.

  • Can my caregiver or family member ride with me?

    Absolutely! We welcome caregivers or family members to accompany our patients during transportation. At Uniquehands, we understand the importance of having loved ones nearby during the journey, and we are happy to accommodate them at no extra cost. Additionally, we are also happy to provide services for pets, so you don’t have to worry about leaving them behind. Our team is committed to providing safe and comfortable transportation for all passengers, including pets.

  • Will the driver take me inside? Will the driver stay with me during the appointment?

    At Uniquehands, we guarantee quality and respect in our services, which include providing “door-to-door or bed-to-bed” transportation tailored to your specific needs. Our trained drivers will assist you from your position to the wheelchair and ensure a safe transfer. Upon arrival at your destination, our drivers will inform the relevant personnel and ensure that you have checked in for your appointment and are safe. If you require a return trip with an unknown pickup time, our drivers will provide a business card to the office staff and request a call 30 minutes before your appointment ends. If you need the driver to stay for the entire appointment, please inform us when booking so that we can make appropriate arrangements.
